The finalists of the first stage of the IX All-Russian competition of scientific research works of students and postgraduates have been declared. The competition is held with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. Based on the results of the examination, the program committee approved 350 projects of young scientists from Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Congo and Russia for participation in the second stage of the competition. The authors will defend their researches in person in the format of oral sessions at the All-Russian youth scientific forum "Science of the Future – Science of the Young". Seven finalists represent Samara University.
The main objectives of the competition set by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, are to identify and support the most talented and creatively active students and postgraduates, as well as to stimulate young people to engage in scientific research activities. This year, the competition, the first stage of which lasted for several months, received more than 3,000 applications from students and postgraduates from 450 Russian universities and research organizations. The competition was held in 10 scientific sections: agro-, bio- and food technologies; humanities; engineering sciences; information technology and mathematics; life sciences and medicine; earth sciences, ecology and environmental management; materials sciences; social sciences; physics and astronomy; chemistry and chemical technology.
Based on the results of an independent examination, a list of 350 participants who advanced to the second stage was formed. In terms of levels of training, the finalists were 77 bachelors, 102 masters, and 162 postgraduates.
The finalists representing Samara University are as follows: Alexander Bagrov in the Physics and Astronomy section, Denis Zhdanov and Artem Yurtaev in the Engineering Sciences section, Violetta Ibragimova in the Humanities section, Alexandra Karpenko in the Materials Sciences section, Alyona Kirsanova in the Information Technology and Mathematics section, and Anna Nikitina in the Social Sciences section.
The leaders among universities in terms of the number of finalists were Lomonosov Moscow State University, National Research Tomsk State University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, St. Petersburg State University, and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
The venue for the second stage of the Competition will be the IX All-Russian Youth Scientific Forum "Science of the Future – Science of the Young", which will be held in Samara at Samara University from October 29 to November 1, 2024. Experts will select 3 best works in each of 10 fields of science.
The forum "Science of the Future – Science of the Young" has been held since 2014 on the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The event is included in the Science of Winning initiative of the Decade of Science and Technology.
