On September 7, Samara University welcomed new students (the Linyun group) from the Northwestern Polytechnical University (Xi'an, China). They will study under a joint bachelor's program which has been successfully implemented by the universities since 2020. Thanks to the agreement between Samara University and the Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU) on the network form of implementation of the educational program "Design of aircraft engines and power plants" in the direction of training 24.03.05 Aircraft Engines, the number of students coming from China to Samara University increases every year.
This summer, the first Chinese students (12 certified specialists in engine building) who studied under this program were graduated and received two diplomas (a diploma from Samara University and a diploma from NWPU). Six students from those graduated will continue their studies under the master's program at the Institute of Engines and Power Plant Engineering in the direction of training 24.04.05 Aircraft Engines.
Last year, 12 students from NWPU (group 2410-240305) continued their studies at our University. Since Samara University considers ensuring a guarantee of high quality education one of the main priorities in its activities, the students of group 2410-240305 were provided with an individual approach by the academic staff. It should be noted that the students themselves are determined to gain new knowledge, thanks to which they successfully passed the midterm assessment and transferred to the 4th year of study.
In group 2330-240305, which will also continue its studies from the 3rd year, there are also 12 participants in the joint double degree program. All of them chose the Institute of Engines and Power Plant Engineering of Samara University for their studies. Chinese students will study together with Russian ones.
This program involves obtaining degrees from two universities. Chinese students study at NWPU for two years (semesters 1 to 4), and at Samara University for another two years (semesters 5 to 8). Students who successfully complete their studies and pass the state final certification receive bachelor's degrees from both universities.
Students of this program adapt to our student environment quite quickly. During the first two years in their home country, they already studied Russian.
The correct combination of educational and extracurricular activities plays a major role in the successful adaptation of students. It is easier for students to adapt to new conditions when they feel like an important part of a large student family. To speed up the adaptation process for students of the joint program, the Institute of Engines and Power Plant Engineering holds an information session in the first days of study, where the students get acquainted with the university, the management, the staff of the University directorate and the graduating department, as well as the representatives of structural divisions. Various events and excursions are held for students with the involvement of student activists and senior students.
