Within the working visit to the Far Eastern Federal District, Vladimir Bogatyrev, Rector of Samara University, attended Yu.A. Gagarin Aviation Plant in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the Branch of the United Aircraft Corporation that celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. Over this time, dozens of models for civil and military aviation have been mastered here. Today, KnAAZ produces multi-purpose Su-35C fighters and the fifth-generation aviation complex Su-57, as well as the plant participates in the SJ-100 and MS-21 civilian programs.

The plant is headed by Aleksander Ivanovich Pekarsh, the University’s outstanding graduate. In 1978, after graduating as a mechanical engineer with Specialty “Aviation Engines” from Kuibyshev Aviation Institute, Aleksander Pekarsh was assigned to Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Having passed all the steps of the career ladder, Aleksander Ivanovich became in 2006 a director of Yu.A. Gagarin Aviation Plant, and in 2022, was awarded the title “Hero of Labour of the Russian Federation.”
