The working meeting was participated by Vera Shcherbacheva, Head of the Department of External Relations of the Administration of the Governor of the Samara Region, Vladimir Bogatyrev, Rector of the University, Victoria Bolgova, Vice-Rector, Sergey Tits, Head of the Directorate of International Activities.
Vladimir Bogatyrev told the guests about the wide range of educational areas to be mastered by students, including foreign ones, at Samara University. These are engineering, humanitarian and natural science specialties. Mirzakhani Davud asked about the current number of foreign students studying at the University and its positions in educational ratings. The Rector explained that about a thousand foreign students from 67 countries, including those from Iran, currently receive higher education here. He also clarified that in various Russian rankings, the University is consistently among the top ten best universities by engineering specialties, in such areas as “invention” and “innovation”, and is in the top 20 in a number of subject ratings.
During the meeting, the Consul General expressed his desire to expand cooperation with Samara University, as well as invited the University administration to take part in the international exhibition in Iran. The Rector thanked the Consul General for his willingness of extending cooperation and for the opportunity to visit the Islamic Republic.
Vladimir Bogatyrev also acquainted the delegation with achievements of the Yevgeny Maksimovich Primakov Regional Centre for Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations, operating on the basis of the University. There, Mirzakhani Davud gave a lecture for students studying in the “International Relations” area. He spoke about modern relations between Iran and Russia and answered numerous questions asked by the students. It was interesting for young people how to build a career in the diplomatic sphere, to take part in student educational exchange programs between Russia and Iran, and travel to the Islamic Republic to get acquainted with its culture and art.
“Russia is a country with rich cultural traditions. Iran is interested in expanding cooperation with Russia in this area, as well as in various sectors of economy”, concluded Mirzakhani Davud.
