On Tuesday, May 16, in Moscow, the agreement on cooperation in research and education was signed between Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Samara University. The document was signed by Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO, and Vladimir Bogatyrev, Rector of Samara University.
“Signing the agreement with the leading Russian university in the field of international relations is extremely important for Samara University. Within the area “International Relations and Foreign Policy,” the University trains students in the field of international relations, and we are interested in adopting MGIMO’s rich experience and best international practices in the training area. We mutually want to systematically develop scientific collaborations, increase efficiency of the cooperation in research and education, supporting joint research projects based on the common interests in science development,” Vladimir Bogatyrev said.
The rectors also discussed the opportunity of opening network programs, organization of internships for students, teachers and scientists of Samara University at MGIMO, implementation of joint research projects, conferences and preparation of scientific publications on in the field of Space Law.
In framework of the agreement, its Parties have developed the list of events, which includes regular participation of MGIMO specialists in the events held by the Primakov Regional Centre for Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations at Samara University: for example, in the annual Week of Russian Diplomacy, the regional UN Model and the SCO Model, work in the clubs of the Primakov Centre and in discussion platforms.
In particular, at Samara University, on May 15–19, the ASEAN Week takes place: the Association of Southeast Asian Nations includes 10 most dynamically developing economies, the most vibrant and ancient cultures of the world. The ASEAN Week is organized by the MGIMO ASEAN Centre, together with the Primakov Centre. For conducting the ASEAN Week, the Head of the MGIMO ASEAN Centre, Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Studies Ekaterina Koldunova, and experts of the Centre Nikita Kuklin and Valeria Vershinina came to the Samara Region. The experts gave lectures to the University students on the issues of protocol, etiquette and business communication with the countries of Southeast Asia.
Today, the interuniversity ASEAN Model started working, which was attended by over 60 delegates from Samara University and other universities in the region. On May 19, presentation of the youth projects of the ASEAN Centre and the educational quiz will take place. For the purpose of preparing the ASEAN Model, the experts of the ASEAN Centre held the online lecture-consultation.
