Natalia Bondarenko, Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Physics of Samara University, has been rewarded the Research Excellence Award Russia 2021.
This prize has been awarded by Elsevier to the most significant on international scale Russian scientists since 2005. A researcher’s contribution to the development of science is evaluated on the basis of objective Science Citation Index (SCI) of his/her scientific articles in international journals according to Scopus.
In 2021, the prize was awarded to 17 most productive and highly cited Russian researchers in 8 subject areas. 3 more scientists and 5 research teams has been awarded in special categories.
Natalia Bondarenko is awarded for her outstanding contribution to the development of national and international science in the field of mathematics in the category "Young Researcher". Her research interests include the theory of ordinary differential equations, functional analysis, and mathematical physics.
The academic staff member of Samara University obtained a number of important findings in the theory of inverse spectral problems for matrix Sturm-Liouville operators, differential operators on geometric graphs, and other classes of operators with application in natural science and engineering.
According to Natalia Bondarenko, her participation in grants from Russian research foundations, and international cooperation with scientists from China, Taiwan, Germany and other countries helped her much in her scientific work which resulted in receiving the award.
Previously, three representatives of Samara University were rewarded the Scopus Award Russia as the most cited scientists contributed to the development of national science.
In 2016, Nikolai Kazansky, Professor of the Department of Technical Cybernetics, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, was awarded the prize "For contribution to the development of national and international science in the field of computer science". Vladislav Blatov, Professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry and Chromatography at Samara University, was awarded the prize "For contribution to the development of science in the field of chemistry".
In 2014, Viktor Soifer, President of Samara University, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with Sergey Zakharov (VNIIZhT), was awarded the prize for outstanding contribution to the development of fundamental science within the technology platform "High-speed Smart Railway Transport".
The Research Excellence Award Russia 2021 is dedicated to the Year of Science and Technology in Russia and is held with the support of the Russian Union of Rectors, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Science Foundation, the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, RIEPP and IIA "Russia Today". The award ceremony was held on March 30, 2021, in Moscow, in the Press Center of IIA "Russia Today".
