The delegation of the Embassy of Argentina paid a working visit to Samara University. The guests got acquainted with the competencies of the university in various fields of research and visited Samara University Aviation Engines History Centre. At the meeting with the leadership of the university and representatives of the Research and Education Centre of the Samara Region, embassy representatives discussed possible areas of cooperation between Samara University and universities and companies of Argentina.
"We see many opportunities for cooperation with the Samara Region, it is very important for us, – said Juan Carlos Pignataro, Head of the Political Department of the Embassy. – In Argentina, there are enterprises of the aerospace and the automotive industry, and Russian education is very much appreciated there. The University of Buenos Aires and the National University of San Martin carry out space research and work". The embassy is also aware that students from Latin America study at Samara University, therefore Pignataro expressed hope for an increase in the number of students from Argentina studying in Samara in the near future. At that moment at Samara University there are more than 900 foreign students from 72 countries of near and far abroad: Germany, France, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, China, Brazil, India, Belarus, Kazakhstan and others.
Moreover, according to Pignataro, among the areas of cooperation with the Samara Region, the Argentine side with its developed agriculture is considering the agricultural sector. “Cooperation in this industry is possible, – said Andrei Gavrilov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Samara University. – We have experience in the agricultural sector with other universities. And a number of space technologies developed at our university are successfully used for operational monitoring of the state of agricultural fields".
According to representatives of the Embassy of Argentina, the next stage of cooperation should be the conclusion of a cooperation agreement. “We have satellite research groups. There are companies associated with the agricultural sector. I think many of them could make contacts with Samara University and take part in your projects. It’s necessary to conclude a cooperation agreement and establish contacts”, – Pignataro concluded.
