On Monday, 2 October, in the course of a formal visit of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Turkmenistan the representatives of Russian and Turkmen universities signed a row of interuniversity agreements.
In particular, a memorandum on cooperation between Samara National Research University and Turkmen State Institute of Transport and Communications was signed. Evgeniy Shakhmatov and Nurnepes Kuliev affixed their signatures to the document.
The memorandum is a framework agreement which details main directions of cooperation of the two universities. Among them is an academic exchange which implies reciprocal business trips of the academic staff, reading of lectures by the leading specialists. The universities will exchange work experience on training of masters and highly trained research workers, carry out joint supervision over dissertation works of post-graduate students, doctoral students and candidates for a degree, exchange students and develop joint educational programmes on the basis of modern video technologies.
The agreement presupposes carrying out of joint scientific research; work over joint research projects both bilateral and international ones. The sides presuppose to use modern information technologies actively for automation of educational process and research work.
The Rectors of Russian universities and representatives of institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences were present at the ceremony of presentation with the Order of Alexander Nevsky of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow as well as at the formal banquet at presidential palace.

More than 1350 students study at 4 faculties of the institute. More than 140 lecturers including 8 professors and doctors of sciences, 28 associate professors and candidates of sciences work on departments of the institute.
