The Samara National Research University named after academician S. P. Korolyov, the International Children Centre (ARTEK) and the “Live Classics” fund launch the All-Russian competition for students aged from 10 to 17 years which are interested in space researches. The winners will have engineering training on the basis of acting laboratories the Samara university in “Artek” and will create the children's nanosatellite.
Organizers expect that the project will be able to draw attention of millions children and teenagers from 85 regions of Russia and 80 countries.
“We hold the major children's literary competition in the country. The competition audience topped 10 million people in a 5 years. Our project "Live Classics" is a way children's intellectual community formation, through which children could able to grow in the most different areas, including in technical professions,in spite of the fact that competition is humanitarian. We need to give them such opportunities for it. Now there was an idea of children's space satellites creation to show children that stars are closer, than it seems to them", - the president of “Live Classics” fund Marina Smirnova emphasized.
"The ideology of this agreement - to involve in creativity as much as possible talented children, who then with high probability will enter in the leading Universities of Russia. We have a lot of various creative groups, laboratories, studios where even preschool children are engaged and the age from 10 to 16 years - the most productive. This time, when children have to be supported
in desire to demonstrate their potential. To find those who are most talented and to support them in the further choice of a way – our common task", - the rector of the Samara university Evgeny Shakhmatov commented.
The first selection stage starts on the Internet in October. A number of the tasks ranged on categories will be offered to children after registration on the official website of the contest. Then students will check their strength in more difficult, specialized competitive tasks prepared by the department staff of space mechanical engineering the Samara university.
The team of participants from 50 to 100 people who will arrive on study in the Samara university form by results of two first selection rounds. The children will be engaged according to specially developed educational program, they will get acquainted with aspects of space mechanical engineering, will listen to the lectures adapted under their age, learn about activity and opportunities of the Samara university, will get acquainted with leading enterprises in aerospace within a week.
The fourth stage will take place on the main location of MDTs "Artek" where the trained team will construct and assemble the nanosatellite. The creative activity will be conducted without interruption from the classes as “Artek” has own school.
"The work in that field was to be determined, children would be divided in interests groups. The satellite consists of several components with own field of knowledge. The corpus is a mechanics and mathematics, solar panels – physics, transmitters – electronics. Accordingly, some children will develop the upper stage, others the location block, someone will be engaged in designing of solar panels or assembly of the corpus.
"All-rounders persons"it is a rare case, but students with the broadest knowledge in creation of satellites have a big chance to become the leader of the project and to direct process with active assistance of curators from the Samara university", - the executive secretary of the Samara university admissions committee Sergey Goryainov commented.
The Samara National Research University named after academician S. P. Korolyov and MDTs "Artek" realize the termless educational program on the basis of the main Russian international children's center since the beginning of 2016.
Now,three laboratories in “Artek” formed by the Samara university: "Robotics and quadcopters", "Electronics" and "Rocket production". The number of the children, who deals with science and technology creativity during their stay in “Artek”,topped 5 thousand people.
