SSAU Department of Philosophy and History in cooperation with SSU Department of Russian and Foreign Literature, with the assistance of the Scientific Council on the Methodology of Artificial Intelligence (SCMAI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Samara Scientific Centre (SSC) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Strategic Social Initiative “Russia 2045” and Fiction Researches Association, plan to hold the Third Lem Reading Conference devoted to science fiction from the 24th to 26th of March 2016.Venue of the conference: Samara State Aerospace University, Media Centre.Topics for discussion:Artistic and philosophical heritage of Stanislaw Lem;
Theoretical foundation of science fiction: theoretical, literary and philosophical approaches;
History and current state of science fiction: topics, ideas, authors;
Models of the future in science fiction: neohuman and alternative social models;
Science fiction and the war of ideologies;
Cybernetic immortality and transhumanism;
Science fiction and scientific and technological progress: predictive models of the real science and their history;
Pedagogical potential of science fiction.Key dates:September 10, 2015 - the first announcement of the conference;
February 1, 2016 - completion of reception of the applications for participation;
February 15 – distribution of invitations;
March 1 – making the conference program;
March 24-26 - the conference conduction;
September 10 - completion of reception of scientific articles for edited volume of the conference materials;
December 20 – publishing of edited volume of the conference materials.The edited volume will be formed based on the conference results.
